Venus Williams was hoping to follow her sister Serena path by burying the opponent in front of them, Serena Williams beat Daniela Hantuchova 6-2, 6-0, but Kim came prepared and shocked Venus in the first set with a 6-0 blowout. The second set Williams showed why she is in the top three of the world rankings and stormed back with a 6-0 blowout of her own. During the third set Clijsters showed why she was the former number one ranked female player in the world and pushed Venus to her limit and over it. Kim Clijsters wins the last set and the match 6-0, 0-6, 6-4
